One of Swindon’s McDonald’s restaurants has reopened following a refurbishment.

The Greenbridge restaurant closed for just under two weeks on Monday, April 25 with a raft of changes which will mean a major difference for customers ordering food going forwards.

Among the new changes include a different entrance and collection point for customers to get their food.

It means the traditional method of ordering to a member of staff behind a till is gone, and the views into the kitchen of staff busily cooking the fast food are no more.

Instead the restaurant model has changed, with more digital screens where you order food from installed.

After ordering on the screens, customers can then pay by card there or by cash at the collection point.

It is believed to be in an attempt to streamline the ordering system and cat for the growing number of people ordering through Deliveroo as well as the Drive-Thru.

Previously McDonald’s promised the restaurant would have a new streamlined service as well as a new look.

At the time a spokesman said: "We’re excited that our Greenbridge Retail Park restaurant is being refurbished with a new design and innovations which will improve the experience of our customers and our team.

"The new-look restaurant will also mean more job opportunities for people looking to join the team.

"Recruitment is currently taking place and those interested can apply via our website."

Back in March 2019, the popular Big Mac vendor underwent a major 11-week revamp when it became the first branch in the country to have a veranda with extra seating overhanging the drive-thru.

This top-to-bottom makeover came with other new additions like self-service kiosks and a table service option.

The restaurant now has a good open feel to it and will hope to attract more customers.

A spokesperson for McDonald's said: “We are pleased that our newly refurbished Greenbridge restaurant has now re-opened. With a fresh new look and a dedicated waiting area for courier partners, we are sure that our customers will welcome the changes we have made.”
