A Wiltshire-based business has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award in recognition of its work to provide greener energy.

Good Energy, based in Chippenham, is in the running for a Which? Award in the category of Sustainability Brand of the Year, the consumer champion’s first-ever honorary award.

The award recognises Good Energy’s long-running support of renewable sources to combat climate change.

The business purchases electricity from 1,700 independent generators across the UK, providing wind, bio generation, solar and hydroelectric power.

It has also led the fight against ‘greenwashing’, where companies make misleading claims about their green credentials.

The winner will be announced on Thursday 19 May.

Good Energy chief executive Nigel Pocklington said: “Which? Awards recognise brands who are championing consumers, so just being shortlisted is a fantastic achievement.

“We help people to play their own part in tackling the climate crisis by providing 100 per cent renewable energy for their homes and businesses, sourced from British generators.

“Our staff are committed to protecting the planet and this nomination is a tribute to their success.”

Good Energy was founded back in 1999 and now employs more than 250 staff at offices in Monkton Hill, with more than 270,000 customers.
