A popular Melksham café has been forced to close after falling victim to rising prices and a change in personal circumstances.

Matthew Butler and his business partner Borley opened Eddy’s takeaway and restaurant in the old LA Diner premises in Market Place, Melksham, in May last year.

But Mr Butler said: “Our situation has changed a lot over the last few months and it's been difficult trying to navigate our way through it.

“Regretfully, we will continue to be closed and we will be selling Eddy's and relocating to a new premises.

“This move wasn't going to be made until next year but very unfortunate personal family events over the last few weeks, mixed with the rising prices over the past few months, prompted us to act now.

“Two weekends ago we both fell ill with a nasty bug and couldn't open the cafe.

“This was the catalyst that forced us to sit down and make a decision and take everything into account.

“It's with great sadness to say this was our best option which would end with some sort of positive outcome for us.

“On a personal note, we would like to thank all our customers from the bottom of our hearts, especially our regulars for your custom over the last year and a bit.”
