A drugs runner who played a "significant role" in dealing Class A drugs to vulnerable users in Chippenham, Calne and Corsham has been jailed for almost four years.

Edward Sclafani, 34, pleaded guilty to supply and possession of Class A drugs charges following an investigation by the Chippenham Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Intelligence from the community supported the investigation into the Chippenham man who was running a "well organised operation" which was responsible for a "significant amount" of Class A drugs being dealt.

Sclafani, of Patchway, was jailed for three years and eight months at Swindon Crown Court

Inspector James Brain said: “This was a detailed investigation by the Chippenham Neighbourhood Team with the support of Response colleagues.

“We will not tolerate drug dealing within our community – we know the devastation drugs can have not just on individuals directly involved, but those within the wider community.

"Today’s sentence should send a strong message that if you are caught dealing Class A drugs, you will end up with a significant custodial sentence.

“This investigation, as is nearly always the case, was supported by information provided by the community.

"My officers will continue to target those who supply drugs in the area so we would urge residents to report their concerns to help us build an intelligence picture of the issue.”

Chippenham Neighbourhood Team's DC Kev Golledge added: “Today’s sentence is a result of many months of detailed work by myself and colleagues.

"Sclafani was running a well organised operation which saw a significant amount of class A drugs being dealt in our communities.

"I am pleased to see the sentence passed today and I hope it sends a clear message that drug dealing will not be tolerated.”
