FOUR people were injured in a serious crash in South Wraxall late last night.

Emergency services were called to shortly before midnight following a report that a Volkswagen Golf travelling north had crashed into a tree.

Two female passengers, aged 19 and 20, suffered extensive internal injuries described as potentially life-threatening, and were taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for treatment.

Two other passengers, a man and a woman both aged 20, sustained serious injuries not believed to be life-threatening, and were taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath for assessment.

A man in his 20s from Trowbridge was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He was also taken to the RUH for assessment and will be taken to the Melksham custody centre once fit to be discharged.

The B3109 between South Wraxall and Bradford Leigh is still closed this morning following last night’s accident.

Police said: “We are urgently appealing for any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have dash cam footage to contact us immediately by calling 101 and quoting log number 350 of May 31.”
