The cost of a green bin for garden waste in Wiltshire has increased for the first time in three years.

From June 30, the cost will go up by £10, bringing the total cost to £60.

This is the first time there has been a rise in three years and comes after Wiltshire Council collected 32,000 tonnes of garden waste from 92,000 gardens in the county from 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022.

Wiltshire Council is reminding residents who have not yet renewed their garden waste collections to do so, to avoid missing the next one.

Households that pay online for their garden waste collection have received an email inviting them to renew their annual subscription by June 30 if they want to avoid a gap in their service.

And customers who have not previously paid online and the council does not have email addresses for, have been sent a letter advising them of their renewal arrangements.

People will now need to sign into their Wiltshire Council account or register for a new account if they do not already have one.

Once people have renewed their subscription, they will be sent a letter within three weeks, containing a new garden waste bin sticker.
