A man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following an incident in a Westbury park earlier this week.

Officers were called to Penleigh Park Recreation Ground shortly before 5.30pm on Tuesday, June 21 following reports that a man was riding a motorcycle in the park where there were lots of children playing.

The 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving otherwise in accordance with a licence.

He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

PC Dan Chaventre said: “Dangerous driving of this nature in a public play area is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. We will deal with offences robustly and seize any motorcycles that are driven in any way other than the appropriate legal manner.

“This park is used by children and young families and the individuals using motorcycles in the area are putting lives at risk – it is fortunate that nobody was injured during this incident.

“We would like to thank the public for their support in this matter and would continue to urge you to report any incidents to us by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency.”
