TWO of Wiltshire Police's finest will take a well-earned rest next week as they are set to retire.

Corsham's Fozzy and Boris will be bowing out from the Force as their handler PC Simon Goodwin completes his final operational shift today before retiring next month.

PC Goodwin served as a military police dog handler and a paramedic, before joining Wiltshire Police in 2006 and qualified as a dog handler with Dutch Herder Fozzy in 2016, and Boris is a rescue Staffie who joined the pair in 2018 as a specialist search dog.

One year into his service in 2019 PD Fozzy was given a Force Award after he helped save the life of a suicidal woman in Bradford on Avon.

PC Goodwin said: “My proudest moment is having had the absolute privilege of being a police dog handler and working with the two most amazing partners I could wish for.

“It’s an emotional time for me – I’ve been wearing a uniform of some sort for the past 37 years – from a military dog handler, to a paramedic, and now the police, but it’s now time to hang up the boots.”

Both Fozzy and Boris will continue living at home with PC Goodwin enjoying some well-earned rest.
