THUNDERSTORMS are forecast to hit Wiltshire today.

The Met Office has put a yellow weather warning in place which is in effect from midday to 10pm.

The stormy weather could cause disruption in a few places.

A spokesman for the forecaster said: "Driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus.

Expect delays to train services, some short term loss of power and other services, some damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes, and some flooding of a few homes and businesses, leading to some damage to buildings or structures."

The downpours will be light at first, starting at around 1pm, then get increasingly heavy as the afternoon turns to evening. The highest amount of rainfall is expected between 7pm and 9pm.

Sunlight will be peeking through cloud cover during the mid-afternoon showers, with temperatures ranging from 12 to 19 degrees Celsius.
