Swindon Town have signed Barrow full-back Remeao Hutton for an undisclosed fee on a two-year contract.

The 23-year-old played in every League Two last season for the Bluebirds under a pair of former Swindon managers in Mark Cooper and Phil Brown having joined them from Birmingham City last summer.

Hutton came through the ranks at Walsall before moving to Birmingham following a stint in Non-League, and had loan spells where he amassed over 50 starts with Yeovil Town and Stevenage whilst at St. Andrews, where the club twice opted to extend his contract.

Hutton said to club media upon arrival at Swindon: “Joining Swindon Town has blown me away to be honest and I can’t wait to play my football here in front of such passionate fans.

“I had a really good season last term and really enjoyed my football, so I want to build on that here, be consistent and perform well.

“This is also a really exciting time for the club. It’s in a good place with some really talented young players, so I’m really looking forward to getting to know them and I share their ambition, which hopefully bodes well for the new season.”

Hutton is nominally a right-back, but has also played higher up the right flank during his career so far.

Head Coach Scott Lindsey said of his new signing: “Romeao is a fantastic signing for the club and brings so many good attributes to our squad that will help push us on this season.

“His energy and technical ability will play a really important role for us, and having played more than 70 games in this division certainly stands him in good stead.”

Technical Director Sandro Di Michele added: “Romeao is a real athlete and brings with him plenty of experience of playing in League Two.

“He’s a player that fits the clubs profile with regards to getting up and down the wings and exploiting wide areas, so he’ll be a real asset for us this season.”
