SWINDON Town have signed Burton Albion defender Frazer Blake-Tracy on a season-long loan.

The 26-year-old's favoured position is left-back but is capable of playing in the middle, and he will add to Scott Lindsey's defensive options ahead of Saturday's trip to Carlisle United in League Two.

With injuries to Reece Devine and Ellis Iandolo keeping the pair on the sidelines for the foreseeable future, Lindsey needed an alternative to Tyrese Shade and Remeao Hutton on the left side of defence.

Blake-Tracy is Swindon's 13th summer signing but just their third loan acquisition. The club is only allowed to include five loan players in a match-day squad, therefore Town have the option of bringing in up to two more new faces before Lindsey has to leave someone out.

The summer transfer window closes at 11pm on Thursday, September 1.

Speaking to Town’s media team after signing, Blake-Tracy, said: “This was a really easy decision for me to come here and I can’t wait to get going.

“Scott Lindsey is building a really exciting team that has a lot of potential and I’m looking forward to being a part of that and playing regularly.

“I’ve played against Swindon before and heard really good things about the club, so to be given the chance to come here and play is massive for me.”

Having played 11 times for Burton in all competitions since signing last year, Blake-Tracy featured 31 times for Peterborough United between 2019 and 2021.

The versatile defender can also count King's Lynn, Lowestoft Town, and hometown club Dereham Town among his former non-league clubs.

Discussing Town's latest signing, the club's head coach said: “I’m delighted to get Frazer over the line. He’s got experience in the league above us which will be invaluable in helping push us forward.

“With a few injuries to our left side, he’ll add extra strength in this area and give our squad more balance.”

Meanwhile, Town's technical director, Sandro Di Michele, said: “Frazer is a great signing for us and a really important one. He comes here with great calibre and a lot of experience in League One.

“He brings with him defensive solidity, a real energy going forward and he’s a really good personality.

"He also knows what it’s like to get promoted having done so with Peterborough, so experience like this can only have a positive impact.”
