Why haven't fuel prices come down?

The RAC have issued a damning report, they're claiming that the Oil Companies and Retailers are not reducing the price of fuel in line with the fall on the stock market.

They have pointed out that the wholesale price has now fallen back to the price it was in February, £1.35 per Litre.

It also highlighted the fact that fuel prices tracked the price on the stock market. Every time it went up the price at the pump went up, but now the price on the stock market has fallen dramatically the price at the pump has hardly fallen.

A MS news reported that fuel prices will continue to fall because there is a possibility of a World wide recession and there will be less demand.

So why has the price not fallen? In Northern Ireland pictures have been posted on line that diesel is currently being sold at £1.65 a litre and Petrol less.

Yet the price in Swindon most petrol stations still remains above £1.85. Over the last thirteen years I have travelled to Cirencester doing my job, the price at the pump has always been 5p a litre higher than Swindon, yet now I find its 5p cheaper than Swindon.

Yesterday, I came back through Lechlade and I pulled into a Texaco petrol station and the price for diesel was £1.79 a litre. A big difference from that in Swindon.

So one can only come to one conclusion, the RAC are absolutely right, the retailers etc are keeping prices artificially high.

Support staff with mental health help

I subscribe to The Oldie magazine - other magazines for the over-60's are available (but are not very good)!

Each month, I particularly enjoy the brilliant 'Gyles Brandreth's Diary' column.

He may be a Tory, but he is witty, informative and so very erudite. His latest contribution includes this piece..... 'Did Boris Johnson crash and burn because of manic depression?'

Wow - this could really explain a lot.

Gyles says that he was warned of this probability by a senior member of the No.10 team, over two years ago. Giles also speaks as 'someone with a streak of bipolar disorder' in his own family.

Well so do I, as my own darling daughter struggles, so much, every day.

Therefore, I say to all employers, please do help those suffering with mental health problems - they need, and can do a really good job - but only with your support.

At the same time, please keep in touch with their next-of-kin (this is so, so, very important) and also with the local mental health team (who are doing their absolute best, in very difficult circumstances)!
