SWINDON Town striker Harry McKirdy has been charged with a breach of the Football Association's Rule E3 following his dismissal against Salford City earlier this month.

According to the FA handbook, players and coaches can be charged with a breach of Rule E3 if they make... "comments which are improper, which bring the game into disrepute, which are threatening, abusive, indecent or insulting" or "comments about match officials which imply bias, attack the officials’ integrity or which are personally offensive in nature."

McKirdy was booked twice in the first half by referee Andy Woolmer, the first of which was for dissent, leaving Town with 10 men for the remainder of the 0-0 draw.

In a statement from the FA, the governing body said: "Harry McKirdy has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3 following Swindon Town FC's EFL League Two fixture against Salford City FC on Saturday 6 August 2022.

"It is alleged that the forward's behaviour in the 43rd minute of the fixture, following his dismissal, was aggressive and/or improper.

"Harry McKirdy has until Friday 19 August 2022 to provide a response."

Post-match, McKirdy posted a handful of photos of himself from the game and a video showing the incident which resulted in his dismissal with a caption which read: "Speechless."

It is not the first time the 25-year-old has been charged by the FA since arriving at the County Ground.

McKirdy was charged, and ultimately fined £1000, in March of last season for criticising referee Paul Howard on social media following a 10th booking of the season.

Having been found guilty of breaching FA Rule E3.1, McKirdy admitted that his comments were "improper, insulting and bring the game into disrepute."
