SWINDON Town Women have announced the club will be splitting its home games between Foundation Park, The County Ground, and Fairford Town Football Club over the course of the 2022-23 campaign.

Over the past few years, Town Women have almost exclusively played fixtures at Cinder Lane – home of Fairford Town FC – with the exception of one-off matches at the County Ground or its neighbour, Foundation Park.

But after recent discussions between all relevant parties, it was decided that Swindon’s elite women’s side should play more matches in the town they are representing.

As a result, a hybrid model for hosting matches has been agreed, and James Lally’s side will play four FA Women’s National League South West Division One games on the artificial surface, which also plays host to STFC Community Foundation.

The first of those fixtures to take place at Foundation Park will be Town’s home opener against Larkhall Athletic on Sunday, August 28 (2pm kick-off).

Tickets are £3 for adults, £1 for senior citizens and children, and free for Trust STFC or Swindon Town Official Supporters Club members.

Swindon say discussions are “ongoing around playing at least one fixture at the County Ground with all remaining league and cup fixtures to be played at Cinder Lane, home of Fairford Town Football Club.”

Town Women’s chair, Martin Wheeler, said: “We are delighted to be operating a hybrid approach to our home fixtures this coming season.

“It will allow us to bring Women’s Football to Swindon on numerous occasions alongside the continued use of the excellent facilities at Fairford Town FC.

“Being able to play fixtures in the Town has been an aim for many seasons, and we must start by thanking Nationwide who have kindly donated to the club to help this.

“We also wish to thank Clem Morfuni, Rob Angus, along with Jon Holloway and Gary Stanley at Foundation Park, Stuart Pike at Fairford Town FC, Trust STFC, and Swindon Town Official Supporters Club for coming together to put all this in place.”

The first game against Larkhall will present manager James Lally with an early opportunity to claim his first win as boss and kick off the season on a positive note.

Swindon are also aiming to build on the success of the Lionesses in the summer and would like to see as many fans as possible attend home games.
