A takeaway which describes itself as “one of the finest in town” has been given a zero food hygiene score.

The Papa'z Pizza takeaway at 16 Silver Street, Trowbridge, was given a score of zero by the Food Standards Agency on February 10.

Wiltshire Times:

On its website, the takeaway outlet says customers can order its “mouth-watering” dishes online.

Papa’z Pizza says it is “proud to serve” Trowbridge and the surrounding area with burgers, kebabs, pizzas, wraps and more.

But the FSA said improvement was necessary for the hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage.

Urgent improvements were necessary for food safety management, adding that Papa’z Pizza needs to put “system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat.”

The agency wants to see evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.”

But the cleanliness and condition of the takeaway facilities and building were generally satisfactory.

The Wiltshire Times has twice tried to contact Papa'z Pizzas for a comment on the zero rating. There was no response.
