Several Wiltshire schools have received the results of recent Ofsted inspections - and six have been told to improve by the education watchdog.

After visits in the spring term, only one school was given the lowest rating possible of Inadequate - St Martins CofE (VA) Primary School in Salisbury.

The following schools were rated Requires Improvement:

Pewsey Vale Secondary School

Noremarsh Junior School

St Nicholas CE Primary School Bromham

Avon Valley Academy

Southbroom Infant School

At the other end of the scale, two schools achieved the coveted Outstanding rating. They are:

Ramsbury CE Primary School

Preshute CE Primary School

However the report notes for Preshute school:"There has been no change to this school’s overall judgement of outstanding as a result of this ungraded (section 8) inspection.

"However, the evidence gathered suggests that the inspection grade might not be as high if a graded (section 5) inspection were carried out now. Inspectors are recommending the next inspection to be a graded inspection."

All other schools evaluated in this period were given a Good rating.
