AS WELL as international musical stars like Don McLean and Little Feat, this year the Trowbridge Village Pump Festival at Stowford Manor is dedicating a night British acts to promote the best the Isles has to offer.

Heading up the bill on July 24 is Northern Irish singer Cara Dillon, who lives in Frome.

Cara is joined by English group Oyster Band who started out in Canterbury.

The Scottish contingent comes in the form of Battlefield Band. The traditional music group was formed in Glasgow in the 1970s.

No Brits night would be complete without a Welsh offering and this year it comes in the form of Allan Yn Y Fan, one of the country's finest Twmpath bands who will go down well with Celtic music fans.

Dick Stafford, marketing and sponsorship manager for the festival said: "There is a great line up throughout the whole festival this year from Thursday through to Sunday.

"The Brits night on Thursday promise to be pretty spectacular, showcasing some of the best folk music available in Britain.

"Cara Dillon, Oysterband, Battlefield Band and Allan Yn Y Fan are all superb musical acts and it is a great way to open the festival."
