A TOWN mayor helped promote eye health and the important role of guide dogs at a photo call held in Trowbridge's sensory garden on Friday.
Cllr John Knight joined Westbury resident Roy Cox and his Labrador guide dog Delta, as well as members of the committee of Friends of the Sensory Garden, to support the national Shades Day, organised by the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
Shades Day saw people encouraged to donate £1 to the guide dogs charity and wear a pair of sunglasses for the day.
Trowbridge Town Council secretary Trish Carpenter said: "The mayor was supporting the fact that people should be protecting their eyes from the rays of the sun.
"People don't always think about things like that. Eyes are equally as important as skin.
"We were lucky enough to have Roy Cox, who came along with his guide dog.
"I think it's such a fantastic relationship between a human and a dog. You've got to put your trust in them."
