Police are trying to track down three youths in disguise who smashed a glass door at the Castle Place shopping centre in Trowbridge.

The trio were caught on CCTV as they ran through the door into the market hall but left hurriedly after triggering the alarms.

Centre manager Donna Stephens said they had disguised their faces with gold masks and wore black hoodies.

The incident happened overnight on Thursday/Friday, October 5 and 6 while Miss Stephens was on holiday.

“They smashed the glass in the back door next to the multi-storey car park and broke into the market hall," she said.

“They ran through the market hall but didn’t do any more damage as the alarms went off and they ran back out.”

The following evening a window at the centre was smashed overnight on Friday/Saturday, October 6-7.

Both incidents have been reported to police, who are investigating.

The shopping centre has recently lost Wilko's, one of its main tenants, following the departure of other retailers, including Shaws the Drapers, Mainlys hardware, and McColl's convenience store.

Those tenants who are still trading upstairs in the shopping mall and downstairs in the market hall say the number of shoppers visiting the centre has dropped dramatically.
