A NEW indoor golf centre has opened in Westbury to tap into the demand from Wiltshire golfers for a place in the dry where they can practice putting or their swing.

The owners of GOLFSIMU husband and wife team Danny and Izzy Traylor, say their new venture is the largest indoor golf centre in Wiltshire.

Mrs Taylor, 48, and Danny, 51, are both members of the West Wiltshire Golf Club at Warminster.

Based locally in Westbury, they are both keen golfers who recognised the gap in the market locally for a venue like GOLFSIMU.

Izzy said: “Golf is a booming business globally, with more people playing and watching the game than ever before.

“Golf club membership has increased dramatically over the last four years, with England Golf reporting in January that 2023 was yet another year of rising participation and engagement.

“But a club membership or round of golf can be both costly and time prohibitive, not to mention downright horrible when the weather is as bad as it has been.

“A recent England Golf survey also revealed some key trends, including that 86 per cent played for ‘social purposes’ like spending time with friends.

“At the same time there has also been significant growth in competitive socialising – basically socialising in a competitive or gaming environment, which has been driven by advances in technology and the demand for new consumer experiences.

“GOLFSIMU provides the perfect blend – a relaxed yet vibrant environment, where people can spend time with friends – playing, learning, watching and just enjoying golf.”

She says the centre provides an ideal venue for special occasions like stag do’s, corporate events, birthdays, date nights or with a group of friends.

The centre features two Foresight GC3 launch monitors enabling players to select from around 40 golf courses from around the world.

Users will be able to play iconic classic courses such as Pebble Beach and Tall Pines, to those closer to home such as Celtic Manor and St Andrews.

“Our third machine is a Skytrak simulator – which some have called Hackers Bay -  which is ideal for practice and helping players hone distance and direction.”

The centre is located upstairs at The Players Club in Quartermaster Road on the West Wilts Trading Estate at Westbury.

The club also has lots more facilities available on-site, including food and drink. Snooker, darts, pool tables and poker nights, as well as ample parking.
