A new electric vehicle charging hub has opened with the aim of making charging faster and more convenient.

The 10-bay ultra-rapid charging hub has launched in Melksham at the SSE depot on Spa Road.

It is the latest site delivered by Source, an EV charging company backed by SSE and TotalEnergies.

Deepa Chandrasekaran, managing director at Source, said: "The EV industry has reached a turning point, and we’re here to lead it into uncharted territories.

"At Source, we’re not just building charge points, we’re building confidence.

"Our ambition is to capture 20 per cent of the UK and Ireland’s ultra-rapid market by delivering hubs that are easy to find, easy to use, and built for the future."

The hub features five 150kW chargers, allowing most vehicles to reach a full charge in around 15 minutes.

One bay is fully accessible.

The chargers are operated through the SourceConnect app, which helps users locate available points, begin charging by scanning a QR code, and monitor their session in real time.

The Melksham hub is part of Source’s plan to deliver 300 sites by 2030.

It aims to support growing EV demand across the UK and Ireland.
