A community pub near Trowbridge has reopened following a ‘short reset’ as the former tenants stepped down.
On Friday, July 25, The Farmhouse Inn, on Frome Road in Southwick, reopened after closing briefly, Wadworth has confirmed.
The brewery added the pub had returned to normal trading hours.
The company also paid official farewell to Adam Glass and Janet Harris, who ran the pub, but have stepped down. In a statement sent to this paper, a spokesperson for Wadworth gave thanks for the outgoing landlords, announcing the reopening and adding the site would be due for renovations later this year.
The statement read: “After 14 wonderful years behind the bar, our brilliant business partners Adam and Janet have retired. Their dedication and hard work have helped make The Farmhouse a cherished local favourite, and we wish them a happy and most well-deserved retirement.
“The Farmhouse is currently closed for a short reset and will reopen on Friday 25th July from 5:00pm.
“Normal opening hours and the full menu will resume on Saturday 26th July.
“We’d also like to share that a refurbishment is currently planned for later this year.”

In January, this paper reported that Adam and Janet had would be stepping down after years at the helm of the pub.
At the time, Janet said: “We’re stepping down because I’m past retirement age. Things are getting tougher out there I’m afraid.
“I think after the budget we made that decision. Adam’s been in the industry 40 years, and I’ve been in it 30 years. I think we’ve done our part.
“I think we’ll miss people, because that’s what we do from morning to night.”
Adam, who has been, and has been recognised as one of Wadworth’s longest-serving tenants, said that though this is upsetting news, the time has come to call it a day.
“I’m sad because I’ve done it all my life,” he said. “The public trade has been in my blood. I’m sad to be giving it up, but after 40 years, I’m getting tired now, and I’m ready to move on.
Earlier this month, Wadworth announced it was still searching for a general manager for the Farmhouse Inn, advertising the position with a salary £45,000.
