There have been more traffic problems in a Wiltshire town following another batch of roadworks.

Urgent gas works started on Manor Road in Trowbridge on Friday, October 10, and are currently being carried out by Wales and West Utilities.

There have been delays at the road’s junction with the busy A361 Frome Road since these works started, with temporary traffic lights in place.

The works are scheduled to continue until the end of Thursday, October 16.

Roadworks continue to cause issues across Trowbridge, with long-term projects at the Longfield Gyratory and Roundstone Street still ongoing.

Business owners recently warned that traffic problems were creating a “ghost town” and putting their livelihoods at risk.

They claimed footfall in their shops had dipped due to people avoiding traffic and being unable to park.

Ahead of the most recent bout of roadworks, Wiltshire Council warned delays were likely.

A spokesperson said: “Wales and West Utilities are carrying out immediate gas works on Manor Road in Trowbridge.

“Three-way lights are in place on Frome Road and Manor Road, and delays are expected. Please avoid the area if you can.

“The team is working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”
