A village pub in Wiltshire has earned national recognition by making it to the finals of a prestigious food awards.

The Poplars in Wingfield, on the outskirts of Trowbridge, has been named a finalist in the Food Awards England 2025 for the second consecutive year.

The venue, which has both a restaurant and a bar area, is up for Restaurant of the Year (South and East) after finishing as a finalist in the same category in 2024.

The awards, which are run by Creative Oceanic, are based on public votes as well as recognition from industry experts.

In a message on social media earlier this summer, The Poplars thanked customers after being nominated for multiple awards in recent years.

A spokesperson said: “None of this would be possible without you, our amazing customers.

“Your loyalty and support mean everything to us.”

Irfan Younis, spokesperson for Food Awards England, added: “It’s exciting for us to once again shine a spotlight on the top establishments and businesses that have managed to stand out in such a busy food scene.

“This year’s finalists have all been distinguished as the real masters in their field due to their hard work and dedication to customer satisfaction.”

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Monday, November 17.
