A flat in Devizes has been shut down following ongoing anti-social behaviour.
On Friday, January 16, Wiltshire Police presented an application for a three-month closure order at Swindon Magistrates Court to shut down an address in Eastbourne House, Bridewell Street, Devizes.
The closure order was granted in order to protect the occupants from anti-social behaviour, following a spate of incidents.
This means that only the occupants are allowed inside the flat, as well as any other officials listed on the order, such as emergency services and housing association representatives.
Anyone else found attending the address will be breaking the law and may be arrested.
Sgt Deborah Laycock said: “Following repeated, and continued incidents reported at the address, we sought to obtain a closure order to protect the vulnerable occupants, and I am pleased that we have had this authorised by magistrates today.
“We hope this closure order helps prevent further anti-social behaviour at the address – we will continue to monitor its effectiveness, and our officers will carry out regular patrols to ensure it is being adhered to.”
