A luxury fashion brand is one step closer to opening in a city centre just over the Wiltshire border as work gets underway on the new branch.
On January 23, ME + EM, a luxury fashion retailer specialising in clothes for women, has filed a planning application to make changes to the Grade II-listed building in which it is set to open.
The retailer currently operates stores in London, Edinburgh, Manchester and Harrogate, as well as in the US, and will soon be taking over a vacant site on Bath’s Milsom Street. The company has filled the high street space’s windows with posters as it prepares to conduct work.
The works will consist of an extensive alterations to the interior of the commercial unit including a replacement staircase, restoration and redecoration of mouldings and plasterwork, as well as new lighting and electrical services, among other changes.

The site being taken over by ME + EM was most recently occupied by Ted Baker, but has remained vacant since the latter closed the last of its stores in August 2024.
The new branch will be one of a slew of new businesses opening their doors over a period stretching back into late 2025, such as bag shop Cambridge Satchel, furniture shop Heal’s, cookie shop My Cookie Dough, and taproom The Welly
The city’s one-time flagship department store Jolly’s is also due to welcome the public back in through its doors later this year after being saved from permanent closure by new owners last spring.
