Housed in a barn, nestled in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside between the market towns of Bradford-on-Avon and Corsham, is a restaurant said to be home to the best Sunday roast.

Forage at Wadswick is a restaurant/cafe located in Wadswick Country Store, offering breakfast, lunch, and Sunday roasts all prepared using "local, seasonal and homegrown produce".

Muddy Stilletos explains: "At first glance, Wadswick Country Store is about the shopping. Think two floors of meticulously curated brands, including Holland Cooper, Fairfax & Favor, Barbour and Schöffel.

"But drift a little further in and you’ll find Forage at Wadswick, a light-filled restaurant housed in a vast barn, overlooking sweeping open fields near Corsham.

"It’s here that head chef Ben McCubbin works his magic, with an impressive CV that includes Lucknam Park, The Bath Priory and The Royal Crescent Hotel.

"Ben works alongside his wife Laura, who runs front of house with calm efficiency.

"Together they have created an all-day dining destination that’s self-assured, and draws a crowd from miles around.

"The space hums with an easy, sociable buzz, plates arrive promptly, and portions are unfailingly generous."

The best Sunday roast in Wiltshire

While Forage covers everything from brunch to cakes and light lunches, its Sunday roasts are among the best in Wiltshire, according to Muddy Stilettos.

Think sirloin of Aberdeen Angus beef or lemon and thyme roast chicken, piled high with veggies, cauliflower gratin, crisp roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and lashings of gravy.

What more could you want?

Muddy Stilettos continues: "Forage is unfailingly packed on a Sunday, and for good reason.

"Sunday roasts are serious business here, and you can expect a very slick operation.

"If you’re hoping to enjoy a slap-up lunch, do make sure you book ahead.

"Alongside sirloin of Aberdeen Angus beef and lemon and thyme roast chicken, you’ll find the likes of loin of Padfield pork with homemade apple sauce.

"Veggies are catered for too, with a nut roast with vegan gravy."

The lifestyle experts added: "But what really elevates the feast is the excellent supporting cast. Boards arrive laden with generous bowls of seasonal vegetables.

"Gravy and sauces come in proper jugs and pots, a refreshing change from those thimble-size portions that require rationing."

Sunday roasts at Forage at Wadswick range from £11.95 (children's version) to £28, while bookings can be made via the website.
