A town centre shop will close within weeks due to ‘rising costs’.
As previously reported, the MS Centre charity shop in Warminster will be shutting its doors in the middle of April, the Wessex Multiple Sclerosis Charity said on March 19.
A spokesperson for the charity offered “heartfelt thanks” to its volunteers, its “loyal and valued customers,” and said it will “miss you all.”
Notices posted in the window of the branch say it will close its doors for the last time on Tuesday, April 14.
The notices read: “We are very sorry to say this charity shop will be closing on Tuesday 14th April. The shop is no longer taking donations. Thank you for your continued and loyal custom. We will miss you all.”
Announcing the move in mid-March, a spokesperson for the charity said: “We are very sad to say that our three-year lease comes to an end in the middle of April and because of rising costs we will be closing the MS Centre charity shop.
“Our heart felt thanks goes out to all of our wonderful volunteers who helped to make the shop a much loved community favourite, and to our loyal and valued customers, we will miss you all. The shop is no longer taking donations.”
The Wessex MS Therapy Charity is self-funded and provides therapies to individuals living with multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions across the region.
The closure comes at a challenging time for retail outfits across the country, as an uncertain geopolitical situation has driven up costs.
The Bank of England had been widely expected to drop interest rates at its latest meeting on March 19, but held firm at 3.75 per cent as the threat of further inflation looms.
The closure of the charity shop comes amid a bout of retail closures in Wiltshire. In March, the Original Factory Shop on Melksham’s Market Place revealed its official last day as it continues advertising a closing down sale, with prices slashed and posters announcing that “everything must go”.
According to the branch’s Facebook page, the branch announced it was closing its doors for the final time on Sunday, March 22.
