As crowds head to the pubs for the Bank Holiday weekend some Wiltshire venues face an uncertain future.
Over 20 pubs across the county are listed for sale on property website Rightmove, as of Thursday, April 2.
Some are still trading while others have been closed for many years and are in need of transformation.
We rounded up some of the most interesting Wiltshire pubs looking for a new landlord this Easter.
The Longs Arms, Steeple Ashton
The Longs Arms is one of the most expensive pubs currently on the market in Wiltshire and is valued at around £750,000.
The former 16th Century courthouse sits in a prominent spot on the main road through the village and has been extended.
It has a large beer garden as well as a garden room and function room in separate buildings.
The Waterfront, Pewsey
The Waterfront Bar and Bisto at Pewsey Wharf is currently listed for sale for £410,000, with its current owners looking to retire.
The pub sits right on the picturesque Kennet and Avon Canal, has a large beer garden, and boasts far-reaching views of the area.
Estate agent Sidney Phillips said there is “plenty of scope to improve” the business should a new owner take on the pub.
The White Hart, Oare
The White Hart, which sits on the A345 between Pewsey and Marlborough, has been marketed extensively over the last two years but remains available for £300,000.
The venue closed in 2014 after “struggling economically” and has remained closed for over a decade, according to Sidney Phillips.
The estate agent warned potential buyers that a significant investment would be required to turn the pub’s fortunes around after years of disuse.
Cobbstar, Royal Wootton Bassett
The Grade-II listed Waggon and Horses on Royal Wootton Bassett's High Street was turned into Cobbstar – a 'speak-easy' style bar – in November 2024.
Less than a year later it was put up for sale and it remains available for £375,000.
The venue is still trading as usual following the announcement.
The Goddard Arms, Clyffe Pypard
The Goddard Arms is another Wiltshire venue that has been closed for over 10 years, after shutting in 2015.
Its current owner bought the pub in 2017 and in 2021 a planning application to turn it into a single dwelling house was refused.
It has been marketed for several years and since 2025 the asking price has dropped to £460,000.
