Clients of a law firm have been left baffled and worried after it announced it would be going into administration this week.
BLB Solicitors, a law firm with offices in Trowbridge, Bradford on Avon, Swindon, Bath, Bristol and Almondsbury, entered administration at midday today [April 30].
The collapse of the company – whose registered address on Companies’ House is Trowbridge’s Roundstone Street office – comes a day after a notice appeared on their website confirming it would be entering administration. This paper was made aware of the firm’s circumstances on Tuesday, April 28.
It has been reported by the BBC that a letter sent by the firm to clients on Tuesday read: "We would strongly recommend that you instruct another firm of solicitors to continue to act on your behalf."
However, clients have been left with questions after receiving neither a warning of the looming collapse nor any information about what happens to their contracts, wills, and deeds.
Danny Rogers is a client of the firm, and says up until this point, he had been very happy with how his affairs had been handled.
However, he says that he has now been left scratching his head after hearing that the firm would be going into administration on the radio. He has not, however, heard anything from BLB Solicitors.
Speaking to this paper from the door of the office, he said that he had no idea what came next.
Mr Rogers said: “They’ve got my will, and my house deeds. It’s so annoying they can just close down and think ‘up you’. I don’t know if they’ll contact me. Do they pick everything up and hand it on? Will it be destroyed, or what?

“I think it’s a shoddy way of treating people. Each client should have been notified. I want to know where my stuff is. When will they contact their clients?”
Mr Rogers said his main priority was his children, and that it was for them he wanted to know how his affairs stood following the company’s collapse.
Another client of the firm, who declined to be named for this story, but who was also visiting the offices of the firm on the morning of Thursday, April 30, said she has heard about the impending appointment of administrators “through the grape vine”.
She said: “We came in on Monday to sign some paperwork, and nothing was mentioned.”
Fortunately, she said, she had the private number of a solicitor, and once she heard the news, reached out directly as they had money on account. However, she has not managed to get her paperwork back.
She went on to say she “can’t fault the solicitors”, but added that the situation was “a little bit worrying”.
She added: “Where do we go from here?”

A notice has been posted on the front door of the firm’s Trowbridge office reading: “We regret to confirm that BLB Solicitors Limited will cease to trade and be placed into administration with effect from midday on 30 April 2026.
“Please direct any enquiries to enquiries@blbsolicitors.co.uk and we will respond as soon as we are able. Thank you for your continued patience during this difficult time.”
This paper tried ringing the bell and knocking on the door of the office, but was not able to speak to anyone from the company.
