A historic Wiltshire town is set to host its first ever Pride event later this month, with a local noughties pop icon due to attend.

Marlborough Pride is set to take place on Wednesday, June 24, at St Peter’s on the High Street, and will see a day of pride activities and musical numbers.

In addition to the busy line-up, the event will feature distinguished guests, including Calne resident and world-famous pop star Will Young.

Alongside Mr Young attendees include Vice Lord-Lieutenant Sir Andrew Gregory, local councillors, press and the support of St John’s, Marlborough College, and many local business and artists.

Rachel Lynes has launched the event and has urged anyone who wishes to be involved in the proceedings to get in touch.

In a statement shared on social media, she said: “This is an important opportunity to come together as a community to show that everyone is welcome to be yourself in our town, no matter who you love.”

The organiser said it will be a free event and they encouraged as many people as possible to come to the march down the High Street, kicking off at 6.30pm.

From 3.30pm until 5pm, the venue will host a LGBT+ Youth Space and banner making for all supported by local artists and St John’s LGBT Youth Group.

Materials for the banner have been donated by Marlborough College, and there will also be an LGBT book stand with Marlborough library.

From 3.30pm onwards there will also be a lesbian-run ice cream van dispensing sweet refreshments to attendees.

Then, between 5pm and 6pm, there will be a free yoga class led by Emma from Hotpod Yoga Marlborough Class also at St Peter’s. The organisers have said this will be a standing or chair class for all ages and levels.

At 6.30pm, there will be a march from St Peter’s along Marlborough High Street.

From, 7.30pm the event will transform into a party, with a bar on site, and Musical Theatre piano open mic and performances from the 100+ strong The Sing Space Marlborough Musical Theatre Choir alongside members from other local Sing Space choirs.

Elsewhere in Wiltshire, PrideFest 2026 will take place in Chippenham on Saturday and Sunday, June 13 and 14, building on the success of last year's edition.

The two-day event will be held across multiple town centre venues including Emery Gate, Yelde Hall, Rivo, Grounded, The Ruze, and The Reel Cinema.

Plans include a Pride parade and opening ceremony on the High Street, along with live comedy, drag performances, music, a Pride market, and film screenings.
