A REWARD of up to £5,000 is being offered for anonymous information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for a series of rural burglaries in north Wiltshire.
Crimestoppers has launched the appeal following six break-ins reported between June 17 and June 19 at four farms, an estate and an agricultural supply centre.
Items worth around £30,000 were stolen during the offences, which have caused disruption for businesses and rural communities reliant on specialist equipment and tools.
The charity said the Wiltshire burglaries may be linked to similar incidents reported in neighbouring Hampshire later that month.
CCTV footage from locations across both counties is said to show suspects wearing similar clothing, including balaclavas and gloves.
Information also suggests the same vehicle may have been used in the offences.
A silver Audi A6 has been identified as a vehicle of interest and is believed to have been displaying false registration plates.
Beth Simpson, Crimestoppers’ South West Central regional manager, said: “These burglaries have had a considerable impact on rural businesses and farming communities who depend on their equipment and tools to carry out their work.
“Someone may know who was responsible, have information about the vehicle involved or have heard conversations following the burglaries.
"Even what may seem like a small piece of information could be vital.”
Crimestoppers is asking anyone who may have information about those responsible, the vehicle involved or the whereabouts of stolen property to make contact anonymously.
Ms Simpson added: “We understand that some people can feel uneasy about speaking directly to the police.
"Crimestoppers is completely independent and guarantees anonymity.
"Tell us what you know, and we’ll pass it on for you.”
Information can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers, which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by calling 0800 555 111 or using its online reporting form.
The reward is only available for information given directly to Crimestoppers, not to police.
People wishing to be eligible should request a reward code when first making contact.
