TROWBRIDGE Museum is launching two new monthly groups this autumn, offering creative and social activities for toddlers and adults with special educational needs.

Little Bobbins, a parent-and-toddler group for children aged two to four, and a new SEN friendly adult craft group will both begin in September.

The sessions will take place in the museum’s Education Hub and are designed to provide relaxed, inclusive opportunities for people to explore creativity, history and the museum’s collections.

Little Bobbins will be held on the fourth Tuesday of every month, from 10.30am to 11.30am.

Each session will have a different theme and include sensory and messy play, crafts, music and stories. Parents, carers and guardians are invited to attend with their children.

The cost is £3 per session, including all activities and a hot drink for accompanying adults.

The SEN friendly adult craft group is for adults aged 18 and over with special educational needs. It will take place on the third Tuesday of each month, also from 10.30am to 11.30am.

Participants will be able to take part in a range of accessible activities, including textile crafts, printing, mosaics and seasonal projects.

Sessions will cost £5.25 per adult, covering materials and a cold drink. Support workers and carers can attend free of charge.

Both groups will be based on the second floor of the museum, which can be reached by lift and is accessible to wheelchair users and families with buggies.

An accessible toilet is nearby, while baby-changing facilities are available in the Lower Gallery.

A spokesperson for Trowbridge Museum said: “We’re really excited to be launching these two new groups.

“Although designed for different audiences, they share the same aim – to provide a relaxed and welcoming space where people can get creative, enjoy themselves and make connections with others.

“Little Bobbins will introduce some of our youngest visitors to the museum through play and creativity, while our SEN friendly adult craft group has been developed to provide enjoyable and accessible activities for a wide range of abilities.

"We want Trowbridge Museum to be a place for everyone in our community, and we hope both groups will become a much-loved part of our regular programme."
