Police have been carrying out speed checks on two Wiltshire roads in a bid to change driver behaviour and prevent serious injuries.

PC Chivers has conducted enforcement checks on Rowden Hill and Hardenhuish Lane in Chippenham over the past week.

Officers are now asking local people to suggest other roads where they believe speeding is a problem.

The force said the aim was not simply to catch drivers breaking the limit, but to make roads safer.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “Speed limits are in place for a reason, even a small increase in speed can significantly increase the distance needed to stop.

“Our aim isn't simply to catch people speeding, it's about changing driver behaviour, preventing injuries and saving lives.”

The appeal comes as police seek feedback from communities across Chippenham, Corsham and Calne about where further enforcement could be useful.

Residents have been asked to comment on social media locations they believe would benefit from additional speed checks.
