A Wiltshire volunteer police officer has been honoured for two decades of unwavering service to the community.
Special constable Bill Kingsmill received a Long Service Award at the recent Wiltshire Police Force Awards.
He joined the force in November 2005 and has since served in a wide range of policing roles.
He began his volunteering with the Melksham Neighbourhood Policing Team before moving to Roads Policing in Chippenham.
He has since supported response policing in Devizes, contributed to Tri-Force Operations, and most recently served with the Special Roads Safety Unit alongside the Roads Policing Unit.
Mr Kingsmill’s service also included supporting Wiltshire Police at the Royal International Air Tattoo, where he combined policing duties with his passion for aviation.
His long-standing service, particularly his focus on road safety, is described by the force as a testament to the dedication and impact of special constables.
Special constables are volunteer officers who hold the same powers as regular officers.
They support communities, investigate crime, assist with incidents and play a key role in public safety across the county.
Wiltshire Police said special constables volunteer thousands of hours each year to help keep the county one of the safest places to live and work.
