Lorry drivers breaking the weight restrictions in three Wiltshire villages have been issued with tickets.

Police said they have received several reports of lorries contravening the 7.5-tonne weight restriction in Marston Meysey, Latton and Water Eaton.

Officers have been carrying out patrols of the area and said tickets were issued to a number of vehicles captured violating the weight limit.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said they acknowledged that some of the cases may have been caused by continuing roadworks.

They added: “While this may be linked to ongoing road closures and diversion routes, officers have been carrying out proactive patrols in response to community concerns.

“This week, officers from the neighbourhood and Roads Policing Units have already engaged with a number of drivers to prevent a potential contravention and will continue to monitor the area.

“Tickets have been issued to several vehicles caught contravening the 7.5-tonne limit in the villages.”
