'Huge 999s response' to assault outside Wiltshire town pub

A man suffered a serious leg injury during an incident outside a town centre pub which sparked a major emergency response.

Wiltshire Police were called to The Albany Palace – Wetherspoons in Trowbridge at around 7.25pm on Wednesday, September 2 following a report of disorder.

A man in his 40s was taken to hospital for treatment after suffering the serious injury.

Police have arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

He has since been released on bail.

The incident prompted concern among residents with reports of a large emergency services presence in the area.

The police helicopter was seen circulating above, while the air ambulance was spotted landing in Trowbridge Park.

One resident described seeing a cordon and a “huge police response”.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “At around 7.25pm on Wednesday (02/09) we responded to a report of a disorder outside Albany Palace.

“A man in his 40s suffered a serious leg injury and was taken to hospital for treatment.

“We have arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and he has since been bailed while enquiries continue.”
