A man has admitted to stabbing a 24-year-old woman at a conservative club in Wiltshire, following a police investigation.

The stabbing took place in the early hours of Sunday morning, August 16, at Westbury Conservative Club on Alfred Street.

Police were called to reports of a disorder involving a large group of people.

A 24-year-old woman was rushed to hospital with a knife wound, while others were assaulted.

21-year-old Jordan Bingham, of no fixed abode, was arrested and later charged with Section 18 grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article in connection to the stabbing.

Appearing in Salisbury Crown Court on Wednesday, September 16, Bingham pleaded guilty to both charges.

He is now being held in custody until his sentencing, which will take place on November 20 in Salisbury Crown Court.

A pre-sentence report has been requested to assess Mr Bingham's dangerousness and inform sentencing decisions, and medical reports are also being obtained by the defence.

Speaking shortly after the stabbing, Detective Sergeant Kayne Borresen said: "There would have been numerous people present at the venue where this disorder took place.

"We are actively investigating the circumstances in which a woman appears to have been stabbed and others were assaulted.

"It is important that we hear from anyone who was at the scene and may have witnessed what took place."
