A popular children’s play park in Wiltshire visited by tens of thousands of people annually is to receive exciting new upgrades.
A new flying frisbee and water cannon will be installed at the splash pad at Warminster’s Lake Pleasure Grounds after funding was recently approved.
Since re-opening for the season in April, the splash pad has drawn around 90,000 visitors.
This year, the outdoor water play area has been open for an hour longer than in previous years, giving residents and visitors even more time to enjoy the community facility.
Warminster Town Council is now investing £9,189 in the new water features to pull in even more crowds when the splash pad reopens in 2027.
The town council said the interactive features will complement the existing equipment and give children more ways to control and play with the water.

The splash pad was designed to accommodate two additional water features, so no groundworks are needed.
Members of the council’s Parks and Estate Committee’s approved the request for Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding at a meeting on Monday, September 28.
Chair of the committee Cllr Stacie Allensby said: “We are delighted to add two new features to the splash pad. Warminster Town Council will continue investing in facilities that draw people to our brilliant town and the wonderful Lake Pleasure Grounds."

Speaking on the soaring numbers of visitors, Cllr Allensby said: "We are delighted that so many people were able to enjoy the splash pad over the summer.
“It remains a brilliant and welcome addition to the park, and we continue to receive positive feedback from local families and visitors from further afield. We look forward to reopening it next year.”
CIL is a charge paid by developers on new developments, which Warminster Town Council invests in public spaces and facilities that benefit the community.
