Marlborough took just seven players to Colwell and despite being four players short the entire game came away winners thanks to Catherine Manley’s late winner.

The short-handed away side stunned Colwell by taking the lead on five minutes through Jus Renwick after good work by Ness Pickford.

Colwell hit back quickly to equalise but Marlborough went ahead again when Manley deflected home Vanessa Pickford’s drive.

The home side rallied and levelled just before the break.

After half-time Marlborough continued to counter attack effectively and when they forced a short corner Helen Dobie struck from the top of the D to find the backboard of the goal.

Colwell’s superior numbers told again though and shortly before the end they made it 3-3.

With Marlborough wondering if they had the stamina to hold out for the final ten minutes they counter attacked again.

Renwick and Caroline Maddocks burst forward to set up Manley’s winner.

The magnificent seven then held out to seal an extraordinary win.
