The first ever Mid and West Wiltshire Gifted and Talented Netball afternoon took place at Bath University this week.
The idea behind the afternoon on Tuesday was for the girls to experience high quality coaching from high performance athlete to inspire them to persue a future in netball.
Eleven schools selected their top five netball players for an afternoon of being coached by England and Team Bath netball players. The 55 girls completed an attacking and defending workshop and then competing in a tournament, each having an England player as the team manager to coach them through the games.
Lavington School organiser Lisa Bush said: "It was the first time that the girls have come together to trained and compete as a group rather than against each other in school fixtures.
"They adapted very quickly and after four hours hard work – they came away very red faced and inspired."
The 11 schools involved were: Lavington School, St Augustines Catholic College, Clarendon College, St Laurence, Devizes School, John Bentley School, Hardenhuish School, Sheldon, Abbeyfield School, Matravers and Kingdown School.
