TOWERING defender Greg Tindle will miss the chance to make an FA Cup debut for his new club on Saturday but says life at Hardenhuish Park could not be going any better for him at the moment.

The former Sheldon School pupil signed from Melksham Town in the summer and has been a regular figure alongside Ross Adams, earning praise from the skipper for his no-nonsense style of defending.

“I’m away for my sister’s wedding on Saturday,” he said. “I’m a bit annoyed but I’ve kind of got to go that, haven’t I?

“It’s going really good so far, I’m enjoying it here. We’ve got quite a tight-knit group of lads and everyone knows each other.

“There’s a few more local lads in this year, which might benefit the team, and they’re all welcoming.”

Tindle put in a man-of-the-match display in the loss to Cambridge City on Saturday but says he is not getting carried away with his start.

“I’ll let someone else tell if I played well or not,” he joked. “I’m just trying to get my head in, secure a place in the team and work to the best of my ability.”

The Bluebirds are also hoping to finally unveil their new home kit this weekend, four weeks after the start of the new season.

Town have been forced to wear their 2007-08 shirts, sponsored by the Gazette and Herald to start the season, due to a delay in acquiring a new sponsor.

The club announced a new home kit link-up with the Chippenham-based Karma nightclub in early August, but not in time for the strip to be for the August 15 start against Nuneaton Town.

Club secretary George McCaffery, who has been corresponding with kit suppliers Errea, is now hopeful the situation is about to be resolved.

“We’re living on promises at the moment and I was hoping to have it on Tuesday but we didn’t,” he said.

“But all being well we should have them for the weekend’s game.’’ The home kit was sponsored by Corsham-based Sunshine Travel last season but a dispute over outstanding money owed from the deal has seen the Gazette shirts being worn again.

However, chairman John Applegate revealed that an agreement has now been reached.
