Chippenham’s first league game against Pucklechurch got off to a bad start when the visitors took an early lead.

But after a concentrated attack on the Pucklechurch defence Chippenham drew level through Mary Derrick.

It was closely followed with a solo effort from Emily Stevens who ran through the defence and beat the keeper to slot the ball in the back of the goal.

Still carrying on the attack some well worked play between Kate Potter and Alice Collins in midfield was stopped by a more concentrated Pucklechurch.

Pucklechurch, determined not to be walked over, fought hard forcing goalkeeper Sian Rhys-Price to make some important saves with Savneet Lochab and Leigh Page clearing the ball up the pitch.

But despite Chippenham’s efforts Pucklechurch scored a goal before half time.

Chippenham continued to attack in the second half, with Robyn Dobson and Steph Pugh in the defence and Alex Buckland and Sunniva Peterson in midfield, working hard to keep the forwards fed with the ball.

With a free hit in Chippenham’s 25 Cara Smith got the ball through to forward Emily Stevens who picked up and scored her second goal of the game.

Pucklechurch increased their pressure on the defence and after a couple of short corners the teams had drawn level at 3-3.

Katie Roberts gave Chippenham their fourth goal from a well worked short corner but Pucklechurch responded and the match ended 4-4.
