A canalside pub held its first beer and music festival at the weekend featuring local bands and around 20 real ales on sale.

The Barge Inn at Seend Cleeve held the festival over three nights from Friday, and as well as serving real ales, they also served a hog roast and sausages to people who came along to enjoy the evening’s entertainment.

Friday saw music from young Melksham singers Lauren Dobbin and Keli Shepherd, who performed a selection of pop covers, while on Saturday there was music from band The Nominees, and Sunday night was acoustic night with Daedalus Right Eye on the bill.

Landlady Sarah Haynes said: “This was a first for the Barge, but we were confident that our regular customers would really enjoy the traditional ales we offered.”

Among the food on offer was a sausage recipe conjured up by Nathaniel Jansen, who works at the pub, and was a finalist in the recent Wadworth Sausage competition.
