AS they walk out of the door of the World Cafe, every customer says the restaurant is just the kind of venue that Swindon needs.

Owner Paul Studholme is the first to agree but his big task is getting them to realise what’s on offer.

He is determined to get as many people as possible through the door to enjoy the relaxed and informal restaurant in Havelock Square.

“This is the kind of place Swindon needs,” said Paul, who also ran the Fat Dog, in Shrivenham and was involved with Longs in Old Town.

“I’m fed up of Swindon getting knocked and this is somewhere where you come for a nice, relaxing evening with live music too.

“Lots of people have been saying to me that it doesn’t feel like they are in Swindon once they’re inside.

“It’s away from the main drag of the town centre bars, close to a car park and is the type of place where you can come no matter what your age.

“We built up a good reputation for food and hospitality at The Fat Dog and our award-winning chef has joined us here so we’re hoping to build on that.”

To reinforce the feeling of informal dining, and encourage more people from all walks of life to come through the door, the venue has launched a new bar and grill menu with an Asian twist this week.

There is also live music on every night until Sunday and visitors can enjoy a three-course meal while listening or just order a few nibbles to tide them over as they soak up the beats.

Chef Rob Avery hopes the new menu will appeal to a wide range of customers.

“We’re focusing on locally sourced good food, cooked simply with lots of flavour,” he said.

For a limited time two diners can enjoy dinner from the set three-course menu for just £14.95. Just download the voucher from www.apartmentswindon.co.uk and present it when placing your order.
