A LITTLE over a week ago, four-time defending premier division winners Corsham Centre looked as if they would lose their crown to Biddestone Social.

However two matches in the space of four days have seen the race for title swing in favour of Martin Bradfield's Corsham side.

Centre, who lifted the Wiltshire Sunday Cup back in April, got themselves back in the hunt for a cup and league double when they beat their fierce rivals and only remaining challengers for the number one spot Biddestone last Thursday evening.

The Centre followed that success up with a win over Box Rovers while Biddestone, who still had the upper hand, lost to The Gladstone Arms.

And if Bradfields’ men beat Biddestone’s conquerors this evening it will be as good as game, set and match once again for the Centre. On paper, the Centre will run out comfortable winners, but with Trevor Rawlings' side going into the game on the back of their famous win over the Biddy Boys, victory may not be as certain as it would appear to be. Gladstone Arms have battled against the odds since the start of the year and Rawlings has done exceptionally, especially over the last couple of weeks, to keep his team going.

But he will be overjoyed when the final whistle is blown on Tuesday night as it means he can now make a decision whether his team carry on or withdraw from the league after just one season in the top flight.

Centre beat Gladstone 4-2 back in November and, although the formbook suggests another win for the Centre it is not a given.
