One puppy’s 2011 has just got a lot better after losing her home at the start of the year.

Nine-week-old Biscuit was taken to the Dogs Trust rehoming centre in Newton Tony, Salisbury, on January 2 by her previous owners who couldn’t get written permission from their landlord to have a pet.

Blue roan cocker spaniel Biscuit has now found a new home thanks to Chitterne farmer Malcolm Babey, who was on the lookout for a new hound.

He said: “I’d been looking for a cocker spaniel puppy for ages, so when I heard Biscuit was at Dogs Trust Salisbury I was thrilled.

“She’s adorable and gets on so well with my other dog Theo, who I also adopted from the centre last year.

“I’m intending to give her lots of training so hopefully she can help me on the farm.

“But whatever happens she’s definitely found her forever home with me.”

Dogs Trust set up its Lets With Pets campaign in 2008 due to the problem of landlords forbidding pets.

Alison Rodgers, manager of Dogs Trust Salisbury, said: “Lets with Pets aims to encourage landlords and letting agencies to accept pets, offering pet owners the opportunity to keep their beloved pets, while increasing rental income for struggling buy-to-let landlords.

“The campaign also offers tips for tenants looking for pet-friendly accommodation.

“Luckily in Biscuit’s case the story has a happy ending but it’s vital that people living in rented accommodation get written permission from their landlord prior to taking a pet on.”
