IT was bee there or miss out at the weekend as swarms of people descended on Lackham to learn more about our buzzy friends.
It was the annual bee and honey day held by the Melksham and District Beekeepers Association at Wiltshire College on Sunday.
Visitors could observe the bees close up in an observation hide and learn all about straw bee skep making, the homes beekeepers used for their swarm in times gone by.
There were live bee keeping demonstrations and of course the chance to sample and buy all kinds of honey.
There were also all kinds of other goodies including biscuits, mead, candles and waxcraft, all made from the by-products of bees.
The society members were on hand to offer expert advice for both beginners and the more experience apiarists.
There were also home made refreshments, a plant stall and the chance to go on the ever popular miniature railway and tractor and trailer rides.
The Melksham Beekeepers are affiliated to both the Wiltshire Beekeeping Association and the British Beekeepers Association.
The branch has been in existence for about 70 years and at present has about 65 members from all walks of life.
