The funeral of Sergeant Nigel Coupe, one of six soldiers killed by a Taliban bomb in Afghanistan last month, is being held today (Friday).
Sgt Coupe of 1st Battalion, The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, the oldest of the six at 33, was attached to 3 Yorks in Battlesbury Barracks, Warminster.
His funeral will be held in the parish church of his home town, St Annes in Lancashire. He leaves his wife Natalie and two children, Ella and Jasmine.
His family made the following tribute: "Nigel was a loving grandson, son, husband and daddy who doted on his two little princesses.
"He dedicated almost 17 years of his life to the Army and we are immensely proud of all that he achieved in his short life.
"He was loved by everyone and will be sorely missed. Words can't describe the loss we feel."
Killed alongside him were Corporal Jake Hartley, Private Anthony Frampton, Pte Daniel Wade, Pte Daniel Wilford and Pte Christopher Kershaw, all of 3 Yorks.
Their funerals will take place over the next few weeks.
