TROWBRIDGE dads Ben Cherry and Ben Veal are preparing for a superhuman effort on Sunday – running the Bath Half Marathon dressed as Batman and Spider-Man.

The two fathers will be dressing as superheroes to run the 13.1 mile route in aid of Make-A-Wish Foundation UK, the charity that grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions.

Mr Cherry and Mr Veal have launched a dedicated ‘Superheroes in Training’ online fundraising page and have been ‘blown away’ by the support given. They have already surpassed their fundraising goal of £500 – currently over £1,000.

Mr Cherry, 26, who works as a team leader at a supermarket, said: “The youngsters who bravely battle life-threatening illnesses are the real heroes. By dressing as superheroes, we hope we can raise awareness and bring a smile to people watching the race.”

Mr Veal, 30, a PR professional who works in Bath, said: “Becoming a father has been a life-changing experience for me... I can only imagine how hard it is for a parent to see their child struggling with illness, and as such I really hope that we can raise as much as possible for the children and their parents.”
